LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

    QUICK ANSWERS

Need fast answers about drones? Whether you’re curious about flight time, camera quality, regulations, or which model fits your needs, this quick-questions section gives you clear, concise insights without the jargon. Think of it as your rapid-fire guide to everything drone-related — quick to read, easy to understand, and ready whenever you are.

Legal, Safety & Compliance (SACAA Regulations)

    Are our pilots licensed?

Yes. All our pilots hold a valid RPL (Remote Pilot Licence) issued by the SACAA. This ensures they are trained in air law, meteorology, and flight safety. Furthermore, our pilots undergo regular proficiency checks to maintain their currency.

We hold a Remote Operator’s Certificate (ROC). In South Africa, it is illegal to operate a drone for commercial gain without an ROC, even if the pilot has a licence. Hiring a non-compliant operator can expose your company to legal and reputational risk.

Absolutely. As an ROC holder, we are required by law to carry Third-Party Liability aviation insurance. This covers any potential damage to property or persons during our operations. We can provide proof of insurance upon request.

We must adhere to strict airspace regulations. We cannot fly near airports, helipads, or National Key Points without special permission.

    • General Rule: We generally cannot fly higher than 120 metres above ground level or within 50 metres of people or buildings without prior authorisation.

    • Restricted Areas: We handle all necessary permissions for flights in restricted airspace, though this may require extra lead time for approval.

We cannot fly in rain, mist, or winds exceeding 30–35 km/h. South African weather can be unpredictable, particularly with afternoon thunderstorms on the Highveld or strong winds in the Cape. If the weather is unfavourable on the shoot day, we will reschedule for the next available slot at no extra cost.

    Capabilities & Services

What is the quality of your footage?

We capture video in 4K resolution and still images in high-resolution RAW format. This ensures professional-grade imagery suitable for large prints, broadcast television, and detailed digital inspections.

Yes. Drone inspections are safer and faster than using scaffolding or cherry pickers. We can capture high-resolution imagery of hazardous areas while keeping personnel safely on the ground.

Photogrammetry involves capturing hundreds of overlapping images to create a high-definition 2D map or 3D model. This allows for precise measurements of distance, area, and volume (e.g., measuring stockpile volumes in cubic metres) accurate to within a few centimetres.

    Operations & Logistics

Do I need to be present during the flight?

You are welcome to be on-site, but it is not mandatory. As long as we have access to the site and a clear brief, our pilots can carry out the mission independently.

A single battery typically provides 20–25 minutes of flight time. However, we travel with multiple batteries and mobile charging stations, allowing us to operate continuously for several hours with only short breaks for battery swaps.

We must respect privacy laws and the POPI Act. We generally avoid flying directly over neighbouring properties unless we have obtained their consent. If a neighbour’s property is inadvertently captured in the background, we can blur it out during post-production to ensure privacy.

    Post-Production & Delivery

Do you offer colour grading and editing?

We offer flexible packages. We can deliver “raw” unedited footage if you have an internal media team, or we can provide a fully edited product including colour grading, music, and your company branding.

Files are typically delivered via a secure cloud link (such as Google Drive or Dropbox) for easy download. For large mapping projects (often exceeding several Gigabytes), we can deliver data via a physical hard drive or a secure server transfer.

For standard photography and video, our turnaround is usually 5 business days. For complex 3D mapping or fully produced promotional videos, delivery typically takes 14 business days.
